Clover Network, Inc. makes tablet-based credit card terminals. Since the introduction of its first machine in 2013, Clover has been praised for its sleek design aesthetic and its open application interface, which allows third-party developers to make apps for the company’s terminals.

At 8 inches wide and less than 7 inches high, the Mini is a versatile terminal in a small package. The Mini is available with two connectivity options, accepts a wide variety of payment types, and can be easily customized using the Clover App Market.

Using the Mini, customers can pay with swiped cards or contactless payment methods and can sign receipts on-screen. The Mini can process debit cards, credit cards, EMV chip cards, Apple Pay, physical gift cards and electronic gift cards. It uses multiple layers of security to safely accept these payment types.

The terminal’s EMV compliance is particularly important to business owners after October 1, 2015. On that date, liability for fraudulent EMV transactions shifts to merchants who continue to use non-EMV compliant terminals.

Merchants can opt for Wi-Fi or 3G connectivity. The Mini also has 5 USB ports, a front-facing camera, a barcode scanner, a built-in printer and a cash drawer.

Access to the Clover App Market is a major benefit of the Mini. Business owners can easily replace or add to the built-in apps that come with the system. Different apps can manage employees, run payroll, store a database of customers, track customers’ upcoming appointments, run open bar tabs, sell items that are priced by weight and more. Some apps are free. Others have a monthly cost.

Like the company’s larger credit-card machine, the Clover Station, the Mini has an attractive design featuring white glass and brushed aluminum. Antimicrobial tempered glass protects its 7-inch touch screen.

Merchants who choose the Clover Mini will find it easy to adapt the system as their business grows or changes. The Mini can be used with other Clover terminals, including the larger Clover Station and the portable Clover Mobile, to meet all the needs of a business. Accessories such as printers, scales and scanners are available.

For business owners who prefer a small form factor without sacrificing functionality, the Clover Mini may be the right terminal. It offers up-to-date security, easy customization and an appealing design.
