Atos Worldline has been in the payment processing business since 1973 and is a leading credit card machine and e-commerce payment provider throughout Europe and Asia, as well as being the #1 Dynamic Currency Conversion provider in India. Atos has grown up along with the bank card industry and has experienced consistent growth throughout its history, with 1.1 billion in turnover annually and 7,200 employees in 17 countries currently.
The YOMANI contactless credit card terminal debuted in 2013 and won the German Savings Bank Association award for Best Terminal Performance that year. The XR and ML models are upgrades to the first-generation model and feature improvements in processing speed, connectivity and memory.
The main difference between the two models is that the XR has added communications interfaces. Both models have USB, Ethernet and RS232 serial connectivity. The XR also has optional 2G, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth and PSTN dial-up interfaces. The ML supports multilane payment for large retailers through a single USB connection.
Both models are powered by dual ARM 9 processor cores and come with 32 MB of RAM and 64 MB of Flash memory. The keypad is ergonomic, backlit and has tactile identifiers for accessibility. The units are also equipped with two SAM slots, a color 320 x 240 TFT display and can be powered by standard wall voltage or by a USB adapter. Stock security is provided by 3DES, AES and RSA encryption algorithms as well as DUKPT key management.
Units also come equipped with the ability to read chip cards, triple-track magnetic stripes and contactless NFC cards. The ML and XR both run on Linux and come with a developer’s kit, allowing merchants to customize their interface.
Both units come in white or grey and have a number of optional accessories such as thermal printers, various communications boards and a merchant unit with an integrated secondary keyboard and ticket printer. Either unit is a solid all-around credit card terminal solution that can be adapted to any retail environment and strikes a nice balance between ease of use, security features and a wide range of payment acceptance options.
